Normal Levels of Zine in Blood of Korean Young Adults

Abstract
Zinc concentrations in whole blood were measured with 145 healthy young adults, 102 male Rand 43 female volunteers aged from 16 to 25 years, who had no obvious exposure to zinc previously.
Analysis of zinc was made by a simple one-step dilution method using a flame atomic absorption spectrophotometer(~lodel A5100, Baird Ltd.). As mean recovery rates of zinc added to the samples ranged from 97. 4 to 101. 0% with coefficients of variation ranged from 1. 6 to 4. 5/¢¥/,, the analytic method was proven to be reliable with high precision.
Zinc concentrations in whole blood showed the normal frequency distribution unlike lead or mercury in blood which showed the log-normal distribution. Mean concentration of zinc was 6.481.04 /.¢¥g/ml, and showed not only inter-individual variation(p<0. 01) but also differed between both¢¥ sexes(p<0.01) and .georaphic locations(p<0. 01) in which the subjects had been grown up.
